Intro

Quick definitions:
>Performance-based marketing is a form of advertising in which the purchaser pays only when there are measurable results (views, awareness, sales/conversions)

>Referral Marketing and Affiliate Marketing are interchangeable; they are a type of performance-based marketing in which a business rewards affiliates for bringing brand awareness, conversions, etc. Referral (Affiliate) Networks help facilitate this type of marketing.

> Commission is the payment to the affiliate and network for bringing the conversions (revenue)

>In Referral Marketing, an Advertiser means the business/organization that offers the reward/commission

>An Offer lists the action to be done and the commission an affiliate would receive

How does referral/affiliate marketing work?

What is DLOYAL?

DLOYAL is a performance marketing & sales platform for Web3, built on Kujira. Our first product, DLOYAL Refer, takes Web3 promotion further by targeting the entire buyer’s journey, from awareness to loyalty (hence the name DLOYAL). Our goal for this proposal is to:
> Increase Kujira’s total revenue, which means an increase in the total yield earned by KUJI stakers. The most successful Web2 and Web3 companies use referral marketing because it increases the total revenue and margins even after paying commissions. One of Kujira’s main selling points is it being real yield, that yield comes essentially from revenue — the higher the total revenue the better for KUJI stakers and the Kujira ecosystem as a whole
> Bring sustainable growth to the Kujira ecosystem
> Bring loyalty to Kujira
> Bring high-value actions for Kujira, like increased liquidity for FIN, minting of USK, etc
> Bring new users who are not in Web3 or its typical communication channels, like Twitter
> DLOYAL doesn’t earn revenue until community funds USK amount is repaid, meaning funds are automatically diverted to the community fund or a Kujira-controlled wallet until paid off
> After repayment, 10% of DLOYAL Refer’s revenue goes to Kujira stakers
> Fostering a culture of being excited about bringing new users to Kujira in a non-spammy way and feeling like you’re a part of something special
> & many more benefits listed in this proposal

Major problems DLOYAL helps solve:

  1. Many Web3 projects do not focus on the entire buyer’s journey because they are busy building. Building is why Web3 projects exist, but to stay relevant, the buyer’s journey must be consistently nourished. The current Web3 marketing products that exist are share-to-earn with a focus mainly on the awareness stage. DLOYAL will help projects succeed at all stages of the buyer’s journey.

2. Another problem is there is limited access to affiliate programs, primarily because organizations want to prevent spamming of affiliate links.

DLOYAL Refer is a referral network similar to Web2’s Rakuten Advertising.

You may recognize their brand from the sports world as a sponsor of Barcelona F.C.

In the marketing world, Rakuten is known for its referral network, where it works publicly and privately with large corporations to grow and retain users. However, Rakuten excludes many potential promoters, primarily to avoid affiliate spamming. Spamming like, posting affiliate links out of context, etc.

DLOYAL Refer can be more inclusive while minimizing spam. This is possible because of our innovative referrer types below:

1. Influencer — A person with a large audience and has a very low risk of spamming outside of their own subscribers/followers
2. I-Affiliate — A person who gets a commission from the influencers they brought to an affiliate program. Can be a higher risk of spam, so these people should have a good enough relationship to attempt to convert the influencer. A conversion rate is in place to incentivize them to not spam influencers because if their conversion rate is too low, they risk payment or other penalties. This is how influencers can be attracted without being spammed. I-Affiliates get 10% of the referral network’s commission (part of the commission that was going to DLOYAL). This way the Advertiser is not charged more nor does the Influencer have their commission cut.
3. V-Affiliate — A person who does not qualify as an influencer but is vetted by the project, community, or parameters set. DLOYAL works with the project on how they want to vet; or how they want DLOYAL to vet potential V-Affiliates for them. Anyone can apply to be a V-Affilate. This is for people actively posting on social media about the relevant project and no history of spamming etc. Affiliates are encouraged to use the same social media and payout methods as DLOYAL will payout bonuses based on the length of the affiliate in our network, so this discourages any bad actors from signing up as new users or multiple accounts.
4. Affiliate — A person who does not qualify as an influencer and like the I-Affiliate is encouraged by the conversion rate to share their affiliate link with people who are ready to do the conversion. This is different from many legacy referral networks that would have blocked these types of advocates; this conversion rate helps give them a chance to participate in the offers. Mark, the project lead, has volunteered to be this type of affiliate as he prefers promoting projects in person. Choose the referrer type that suits you best.

Conversion Rate Benefit Specifically for Web3
Having the conversion rate helps grow the project without harming the brand. It also encourages the affiliates to walk the user through the conversion process. That is critical because most Web3 projects do not have the UX that people are used to with Web2. DLOYAL Refer is designed to help new users enter Web3 early that otherwise would have stayed on the sidelines. Some of you do this with your friends and family already, but now you can be rewarded.

The parameters, conversion rates, and algorithms will be continuously optimized.

Wait, but how does DLOYAL Refer actually work though?

How DLOYAL Refer works at a high-level

More General Referral/Affiliate Marketing Info

What are the typical numbers involved with commissions?

  • The typical market rate for affiliate commissions is from 5%-50%, with finance having the highest percentage at 30%-40%. Regarding Web3, some Web3 projects have 50% commissions others are lower at 10%.
    — — Why are affiliates paid a commission? For referring the user who did the conversion, specialized audience targeting, and any unique acquisition methods
  • Typically, the commission for a referral network, like DLOYAL, is an “add-on” of 20%-30% of the affiliate’s commission. From the experience of DLOYAL team members, most affiliate networks charge 30%, but DLOYAL will charge a lower commission of 20% to be more competitive
    — — Why are referral networks paid a commission? For the tracking and setup, affiliate management, security (click fraud detection), algorithms, payout, tailored service, network innovations, affiliate/influencer sourcing, and following the latest performance marketing best practices

Example with numbers

An advertiser is selling a product and wants more sales
- Product price is $100
- Affiliate commission is 30%
— — So $30 earned by the affiliate
- The affiliate network’s commission is an add-on of 30% of the affiliate’s commission ($30)
— — So 30% x $30 = $9 for most affiliate networks
— — DLOYAL Refer at 20% would be $6
— — $6 added on to $30 is $36 total commission

Many affiliate networks charge a setup fee to advertisers from hundreds to thousands of US Dollars.
— DLOYAL will start without charging a setup fee
— Kujira ecosystem projects will never be charged a setup fee (Projects built on Kujira or support the Kujira tokens, KUJI, USK, etc)

What if the commissions are low per conversion, like $2 or below, why would affiliates promote that?
— If the commissions earned are low, then the Offers are typically set up so recurring commissions can be earned after the initial conversion. Those periods can be from one month to as high as 35 months etc., and these period lengths can be adjusted if needed.
— — Example - An Advertiser with DLOYAL lists an Offer where the affiliates get a commission from their referral’s trading fees for 6 months. So, an affiliate brings a user that completes an initial conversion, a trade with the fees; that affiliate earns a percentage of that user’s trading fees for the next 6 months. This period of recurring commissions depends on margins and other business factors. For example, Amazon offers a shorter period (24 hrs) than MEXC (Up to 1080 days/35 months), again because of possible margins per conversion and other business factors.

DLOYAL Refer Features and Other Benefits

How will DLOYAL Refer Benefit the Kujira Ecosystem?

These benefits will be for existing projects and other projects that are soon to launch in the Kujira ecosystem.
We can track almost any conversion, for example:
- Trades on FIN
- USK Minting
- Validator Staking
- Kujira Wallet downloads
- Ecommerce with USK etc
- NFT minting/sales
& more high-value actions to bring more people to Kujira and turn them into loyal users.
